My birthday lunch

We got to Milan about noon and ventured to via Monte Napoleon because this is the Madison Avenue of Italy. This is where all the famous designers first display their new threads and being Milan, the fashion capital of the world it MUST be amazing. We referenced our Xeroxed map of greater Milan and figured a few blocks to the north and we would be trying on new shoes and celebrating my birthday with a grand bottle of Vino Nobile de Montepulciano on a little veranda overlooking passer-bys. An hour of fast walking and we were not getting closer to anything. I asked a slightly delusional female vagrant how to get to the center of town. No, I wasn't aware she was anything but normal by her appearance and no, we didn't take her advice. We found a near empty restaurant and decided to get some lunch and rest our feet. Still in the mood for something delicious we both ordered the #4, a Mexican wrap which was destined to have loads of meat, hot peppers, guacamole, lettuce and tomatoes with a delicious sauce and 2 large beers to wash it all down. We got a a piece of pita with the equivalent of 2 slices of American cheese and one piece of jalapeno.

We continued on our quest to the holy land of fashion and after just a few more minutes finally found it!!! Do you know the word, "anticlimactic"? We took a few pictures, Gucci was closed, Ferragamo was dull, there were no verandas, no wine to be had. We ventured to the main piazza, bought some postcards and agreed to take a cab back to the train station. With no reason to stay we headed to Switzerland.
